The power of changing “How” to “Who”- getting a better life

As we strive to share our unique strengths and talents, we often stumble not in the “what” or “why,” but in the “how.” It’s easy to get bogged down in tasks and processes that sap our energy—especially when they’re outside our core strengths. Here’s the pivot: instead of asking, “How do I do this?” ask, “Who can help me achieve this?”

This shift is the essence of the approach advocated by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy in their book Who Not How:

“By freeing yourself up from Hows, you’ll have a reborn sense of purpose and clarity. You’ll feel like you’ve been given another life to live.”

When we delegate the “how” to the right “who,” we reclaim time and energy to focus on what we do best. This isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about living with purpose and intention. If you find yourself stuck in endless research or struggling with tasks that don’t align with your strengths, pause and ask: “Who can do this better, faster, or with more joy?”

Tag someone you know who’s caught up in the “how,” and encourage them to make the leap to “who.” Help them embrace a life where their days are filled with purpose, play, and potential.
